Ohio Valley River Museum

at Hannibal Locks and Dam, Hannibal, Ohio

The Ohio Valley River Museum is searching for the handwritten journals of former area resident W. A. Roush, who lived in the Clarington/Sunfish area of Monroe County, Ohio, at the end of 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries.

Roush lived on Sykes Ridge, farming, teaching school, and writing down most everything in these journals from 1883 up until 1918. We have been able to locate several of the journals, but are hoping to find the missing years.

As we began transcribing these small books, we have discovered a great story that we want to pursue at the River Museum with regard to everyday life in Monroe County from 1883 to 1918. If you know of the location of any of these journals, please contact us and let us know.
